Meryl Streep: The Real Ant Bully

It seems that everyone is talking about Meryl Streep’s speech last night at the Golden Globes. I was planning on writing tonight’s blog about any other topic other than this subject and there are a lot. (California paying for a criminal’s sex change surgery, Bernie’s town hall and the looney toon from the Tech company essentially saying the Midwest had no jobs because we are all racists and bigots to name a few.) For some reasons her speech just annoys me to no end. Maybe it is because for the last year I have been subjected to a steady stream of lectures from the leftist celebrities on how I was racist because I found small government and constitutional policies preferable to another globalist tax and spend liberal in the White House. Maybe it is because it has only been about four days since the last celebrity montage video with the scary background music where they warn me of the evils of Conservative viewpoints and call me a racist. Maybe it is because I am tired of the leftist elite celebrity not learning that in the end calling hardworking Americans who are tired of seeing Americans suffer at the expense of the rest of the world… racists.

Since I am expected to issue a trigger warning when I am about to speak about anything that might be remotely offensive to any non functioning adolescent, I now DEMAND that the left begin issuing trigger warnings when they say stupid shit like Meryl Streep.

“You and all of us in this room, really, belong to the most vilified segments in American society right now.” Ummm ok. Just let that sink in for a minute. So Meryl was going to hit a few ritzy parties on the way out, hanging with the rich and powerful, take her limousine ride home 8 bedroom mansion where she was going to slip out of her $10,000 dress and curl up on her magnetic floating bed and cry herself to sleep over her existence that is so vilified. I think we have radically different views of what the word vilified means and she must have mistakenly read that from the teleprompter where it actually said privileged.

She then went on to name multiple Hollywood stars that are not from the United States and then pontificated, “If you kick ‘em all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.” So essentially Hollywood elites are better than football players and MMA fighters? No Meryl Streep you are both entertainers. There are plenty of people in this country who would rather head to the bar and watch the game or head to their friend’s house and watch the fight then watch anything with YOU.  At least with them I can say that they are athletes and entertainers.

In her speech that seemingly went on forever she also lamented, “Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence. When the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose.” And there it is. What has the Hollywood elite done for the last year other than to attempt to shame and bully Middle America. You call us racist even though you do not know us. You lecture us as if we were wayward children who in order to thrive only need to bask in the glow of your radiant enlightenment. Do you have some special insight or esoteric knowledge that makes you more qualified than I on how to make those decisions that impact my life? No you have some silly trophies, a bigger house and a floating bed, none of which enables you to read my mind or know my worth. In the end it is ironic that you Meryl Streep are a Bully.

Full disclosure: I do not know if Meryl Streep actually owns the magnetic floating bed, but I imagine if anyone is going to own a 1.6 million dollar bed it would be her.
